Youth & Families

Youth Coordinator

Rhonda Fisher has been hired as Grace Lutheran’s new Coordinator of Youth and Family Ministries. She began her duties on April 22, 2014. Rhonda’s hiring was approved by Grace Administrative Ministries (Executive Board) in consultation with Pastor Rice, Christian Faith and Life Director Marcie Castricone and Bob Sclater, Director of Stewardship Development.

Rhonda has been a congregation member for over three years. She lives in Strasburg with her two sons, graduating senior Josh and seventh grader Noah. Rhonda has served two terms on our Hospitality Ministries Board and has produced the Youth Mission Trip video each summer since 2010. She has assisted with several youth events including retreats, lock-ins and service projects. Please welcome and encourage Rhonda in her new, important ministry. Rhonda may be contacted by cell phone at 330-354-9144 or by e-mail at youthcoordinator@gracedover.org.

Children's Ministries

We are looking for a responsible adult or teen to take care of our nursery (children 3 and younger) during the Sunday School hour and 10:30 a.m. morning worship. This is a paid position. Nursery care begins at 9:15 and continues through approximately 11:45. It begins the first Sunday in September and ends the last Sunday in June. If you are interested in this children’s ministry, please contact Pastor Rice or the church office for an application.

We are also looking for a volunteer or two to teach our 3rd-4th grade Sunday School class. The students meet for learning activities at 9:15 a.m. If you would like to share God’s wonderful words of life with these young people, contact Faith Bambeck, Director of Christian Faith and Life, or Pastor Rice.

Thursday, July 19th

Summer is for baseball, vacation, reading, and SWIMMING!

Let’s all get together at the Dover City Pool on Thursday evening July 19th! Grace Lutheran Church has the pool reserved for two hours. If you don’t want to swim, come with your lawn chair, and spend an evening by the pool with your Grace Lutheran friends.

We ask that each family or individual bring a snack food (chips, pretzels, cookies) or a 2 liter soft drink.

The church will provide hot dogs.

Please sign up on the sheet in the Narthex.

Our mission trip participants have been working hard preparing for the ELCA Youth Gathering in Houston. We are finishing up our nine hours of instruction and classes for the trip. This year’s theme is “This Changes Everything”. We are learning to shift our perspective on many social issues like homelessness, mental illness and justice. We have also had a special guest, Dr. Lori Sigrist, retired Lt. Kernel Army, who was stationed in San Antonio, Texas. She taught us how to pack, how to survive the Texas heat and other travel tips.

I would also like to thank this congregation for all your support during the year. You’ve helped us with our fundraisers, dinners, Easter Breakfast and so much more.

We appreciate all your prayers and encouragement. Please pray for us as we continue our ongoing preparations for this trip and while we are gone from June 27 - July 1.
